Are people exiting from the same page they land on?

These days people land on product pages, but you’ll possibly get more shopping behaviour if they find their way to a category page. If you have a look at the other advertisers in your niche who typically get all the top advertising spots, have a look carefully at their landing pages. You might see some of the following things:

  • Prominent banners attracting visitors away from the product they land on; towards category pages
  • Breadcrumbs that help people find the category page
  • Cross-sells, Other people bought, Other people liked etc.
  • Prominent Search widgets
  • Reviews, videos, spin to win, information guides, tips, infographics, pictures and anything else that keeps people’s attention long enough to get them to stay and explore

The longer a person stays on your website, the more Google will reward you with traffic, and the more likely that person is to purchase something.
